Acupuncture was originatzed in China, it has a history that is several thousand years old and can be traced all the way back to the Old Stone Age of the history of China during which time, the “bien” (stone acupuncture needle) was used to treat diseases. Though the development of acupuncture art was very slow, the theories and clinical practices had already become quite systematic in the Jin Dynasty, when Huang Fumi (215-282 A.D.) compiled the Zhenjiu Jia Yi Jing.
Acupuncture as a traditional Chinese medicine ,TCM, has not only served the people of China for a long time. Without doubt, it was also introduced to Asian countries such as Japan and Korea as early as the second century and some sources dated it a bit later to the 6th century. The Chinese acupuncture and herb medicine were adopted by the Japanese and Korean as their only health care for over a thousand years before Western medicine was introduced there. Acupuncture was introduced to Europe in the 17th century, and two centuries later, there are very few countries in the world where acupuncture is not being accepted and used as part of health care.
